The HfG Archive Ulm, an initiative of former Ulm School of Design faculty members, was set up by the city of Ulm in 1987, and has been part of Ulm Museum since 1993. It aims to document the history of the Ulm School of Design as comprehensively as possible.

In its twin role as museum and archive, the HfG Archive provides information to the general public about the Ulm School of Design and its importance by organizing temporary exhibitions, publications, and symposia. The HfG Archive has curated a permanent exhibition at Ulm Museum, giving an overview of the history and development of the Ulm School of Design.
